Alchemia Pty. Ltd. was established in 1995 to develop and exploit a significant and exclusive intellectual property portfolio in the area of carbohydrate chemistry.
Alchemia has developed novel enabling technology that allows, for the first time, the efficient and cost effective manufacture of carbohydrates employing purely chemical synthetic methodology. Further, Alchemia's technology is highly amenable to combinatorial carbohydrate chemistry with applications including combinatorial oligosaccharide libraries, 'carbomimetics', (aminoglycoside antibacterials) and generally increased spatial diversity of compounds built around a carbohydrate center.
